History

For years the Camelot Theater has stood as a landmark in Nevada’s downtown district.

Circle Theater

Opening the night of October 17th, 1928 the then called Circle Theater featured over 700 seats, boasted air conditioning, and an in-house orchestra. Opening night featured a combination of live music, small theater production, and the showing of Buster Keaton’s silent film, Steamboat Bill. The Circle Theater operated in Nevada until 1969 when it was purchased by Bill Fridley and underwent an extensive renovation to become the Camelot Theater. Opening night of the Camelot featured a parade of dignitaries, complete with the Nevada High School Marching band. The first movie shown was John Wayne’s True Grit.
